Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Consultant to join our team at New York State. As a Clinical Laboratory Consultant, you will be responsible for inspecting clinical laboratories, blood banks, and patient service centers to ensure compliance with New York State laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of laboratory staff qualifications and testing procedures
  • Evaluate facility standard operating procedure manuals and review laboratory records
  • Report findings to laboratory directors and technical staff
  • Document findings in descriptive narratives and laboratory evaluation reports
  • Determine the acceptance of a facility's proposed remediation by reviewing the plan of correction
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field, and three years of post-bachelor's professional experience in a laboratory setting. A master's degree may substitute for one year of experience, and a doctoral degree may substitute for two years of experience.

You will also need to have knowledge of clinical laboratory testing, quality assurance, audits, and applicable New York State laws and regulations. Excellent written, verbal communication, and computer skills are also essential.
