About the West Gate Tunnel Project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping initiative that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, providing quicker and safer journeys, and removing thousands of trucks off residential streets.

Job Description

As the Senior Project Engineer for the West Gate Tunnel, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing on-site engineering functions through subordinates, which may include Project Engineers, and/or Cost/Planning Engineers;
  • Monitoring quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, checking work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arranging corrections or modifications where necessary;
  • Coordinating the activities of an engineering team, programming workloads and providing technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved;
  • Accurately forecasting costs and revenue and utilising corrective action in line with CPBJH JV authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin;
  • Assigning work and assisting with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier, subcontractor quotations/purchase orders as well as subcontractor arrangements;
  • Participating in planning future requirements including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant and labour. Direct site surveys and preparatory work prior to construction.
About You

To be successful, you will ideally have the following experience and capabilities:

  • Minimum 10 years electrical engineering experience preferably site-based;
  • Demonstrated experience in HV/LV reticulation and distribution systems, ITS, road/tunnel lighting systems and Control Systems design, installation, and commissioning;
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering, Construction Management and Science etc;
  • Experience using Aconex, Bluebeam would be preferred;
  • Proven experience working on Tier 1 projects, tunnelling and/or open road specific experience.
