Job Opportunity

The Centre for Inflammation is a joint programme between the University of Technology Sydney and Centenary Institute.

This centre, led by Professor Phil Hansbro, is internationally renowned and world-leading in chronic respiratory diseases. It investigates mechanisms of disease induction and progression, researches new therapies and preventatives, and conducts translational human and clinical studies.

We have an opportunity to lead the COPD Node. The main focus is on investigating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including its development and progression, and finding novel therapeutic and preventative treatments.

To be successful, you will require:

  • A doctoral degree as it pertains to COPD/respiratory disease pathogenesis
  • Ability to work with mouse and human tissues, sample collection, and analysis
  • Experience in scientific writing
  • Skills in standard laboratory techniques
  • Knowledge of research methodology and requirements of health-related research

This role attracts 17% superannuation, and we offer flexible work practices, childcare centres, parental leave, and salary packaging opportunities.

The appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months, and we welcome international applicants.
