Key Roles and Responsibilities

This role delivers communications strategies for a wide range of council programs, events, projects and services. Engaging closely with subject matter experts, the Communications Officer conveys accurate and engaging messaging to various stakeholders.

The Communications Officer develops and publishes social media content focused on storytelling. They deliver regular internal communications materials for staff and stakeholders, as well as lead the creation and publication of written media, including news articles and Council stories.

Multichannel content creation aligns to council's strategic and business plans. The officer also supports delivery of Council print and digital publications. Email marketing and SMS marketing content are developed and published.

Representing Council at events and activations from a promotional perspective is an integral part of this role. Delivering communications content and collateral using branded templates is also expected.

About You
  • Appropriate certification in Marketing, Communications or Journalism, or demonstrated relevant practical experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
  • Proven skills in developing, proofreading and publishing content for print, digital and social media channels
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
  • Communications planning and delivery skills, including working with subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of marketing and communications systems and platforms
  • Ability to build strong relationships and engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn new systems, skills and programs
  • Innovative problem-solving and negotiation approach
  • Pre-employment medical and police check requirements
  • South Australian Class C Driver's Licence
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud advantageous
