About Us

The Queensland Fire Department provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. Our Purpose

We are responsible for ensuring the capacity of operational staff to respond in emergent situations as legislated in the Fire Services Act 1990. This includes:

  • Protect and serve the community by responding to fires and other emergencies in a professional and timely manner to minimise loss to life, property and the environment.
  • Improve the safety and emergency preparedness of the community by contributing to fire prevention and community education activities.
