We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Lawyer to join our team in Sydney, Australia. This is a 12-month contract role that will provide you with the opportunity to work on high-profile deals and projects, while also developing your skills and expertise in payments law.
As a Senior Commercial Lawyer, you will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts, including partnership agreements with corporate clients, regional and global merchant, acquiring, sponsorship, and marketing agreements, as well as technical processing agreements.
You will also lead negotiations with corporate and merchant partners on significant and complex deals, support the launch of new products, services, and payments capabilities in Australia and internationally, and provide general legal and regulatory advice across a range of commercial matters.
In addition, you will monitor, research, and provide clear and succinct advice to the business on legal and regulatory changes that impact American Express, and assist with strategies to deal with them.
You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our lawyers in other countries, deliver training and develop tools and guidance to help business colleagues make sense of the legal and regulatory world around them.
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years PQE and a current Practising Certificate, strong commercial contract drafting and negotiating skills and experience, great communication skills, both written and verbal, strong commercial judgment, pragmatic approach, confidence working in the grey, and sufficient nous and resourcefulness to thrive in areas where they have limited or no experience.
The salary for this role is estimated to be $150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience.
