Job Description

We are seeking a talented lawyer to join our Public Law Team. As a Senior Public Law Advisor, you will work on complex legislation design and development, providing legal advice and support to the Department and Ministers' offices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal advice on complex legislation design and development
  • Preparing legal instruments for portfolio Ministers, the Secretary, and other rule-makers
  • Advising on statutory interpretation and administrative law
  • Managing litigation and dispute resolution matters
  • Participating in legal reviews of portfolio legislation and public reports

You will work under broad direction, with opportunities to develop a sound knowledge of portfolio subject matters quickly. You will also have exposure to a broad range of public law matters, including advising on regulatory law, administrative decision making, and statutory interpretation.

How to Apply

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the minimum requirements, including a tertiary degree in Law from an Australian tertiary institution and admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or of the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
