Medical Laboratory Technician Job

This role involves working as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a laboratory setting. The laboratory operates 24 hours and performs a range of laboratory investigations, including biochemistry, haematology, and immunohaematology tests.

The key responsibilities of this role include performing front-end activities such as specimen reception, data entry during afternoon shifts, and laboratory testing. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for analyser maintenance and quality control to ensure accurate results.

Main Responsibilities
  • Specimen Reception: Receive and process specimens from patients, ensuring that they are handled and stored correctly.
  • Data Entry: Enter patient information and test results into our system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Laboratory Testing: Conduct various laboratory tests, including biochemistry, haematology, and immunohaematology tests, to diagnose and monitor patient conditions.
  • Analyser Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on our analysers to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality of our laboratory tests, ensuring that they meet high standards.
Requirements
  • A diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge and experience in pathology services delivery within a relevant discipline.
  • The ability to work efficiently and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong teamwork and autonomy skills to deliver results within specified timeframes.
  • A customer-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory.
  • A commitment to quality management and continuous improvement.
