Principal Mechanical Engineer

Lycopodium is seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Minerals team in Brisbane. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing the coordination and production of design outputs that meet project and study requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate technical aspects of project design and conduct timely reviews of mechanical drawings to ensure compliance with design intent.
- Approve, guide, and review engineering designs, including calculations and design development.
- Develop technical documentation, including scopes of work and specifications, using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
- Liaise with and provide professional support to the drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables.
- Approve and assist with the delivery of accurate engineering lists, including equipment, lubrication, spares, valves, pipeline, and special items.
- Maximize productivity and efficiency by planning, scheduling, and allocating resources to ensure deliverables are met.
- Contribute to the professional development of engineers-in-training by providing mentoring and identifying avenues for growth.
- Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives that support business priorities for continuous improvement.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 15+ years of post-graduate experience in mineral processing or related industries.
- Experience in gold, base metals, or lithium is highly regarded.
- CP Eng and RPEQ qualifications are preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proficient understanding of business acumen with the ability to adapt to different business environments.
- Intuitive leadership skills with the ability to initiate, lead, and manage change in a complex environment.
- High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of process optimization.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality service to clients within budget and time constraints.
- Willingness to travel outside Australia on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.
