Research Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a research specialist to contribute to leading practice in First Nations data, research and evaluation sovereignty.

This is an exciting opportunity to enhance existing external research partnerships processes and documents, and to lead a project that benchmarks our research and evaluation against national and international leading practice in Western and First Cultural standards and practice.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree/qualification in research & or evaluation, experience with report writing, literature reviews and evidence scans, and strong MS Programs skills.

Key responsibilities include undertaking literature reviews and evidence scans, gathering internal and external evidence, establishing a system of monitoring and utilising national and international literature and evidence, contributing to leading practice in First Nations data, research and evaluation sovereignty, reviewing and enhancing existing external research partnerships processes and documents, leading a project that benchmarks our research and evaluation against national and international leading practice, working closely with R&E teams in each region to document the views and perspectives of local First nations staff about First Nations data, research and evaluation sovereignty and standards, exploring creative ways to visualise key research and evaluation principles, approaches and processes, developing and maintaining an internal register of strategic research priorities, contributing to identifying research grant opportunities, contributing to peer learning, and contributing to and supporting the development of R&E resources for First Nations leaders, staff and communities.

Responsibilities also include planning, reporting, including quarterly reports to Director, funding reports, research reports, and collaborative work with colleagues across the organisation.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement literature review and evidence scan strategies to inform organisational systems and service reform frameworks.
  • Gather and synthesise internal and external evidence to support evaluation, research, advocacy submissions, and other strategic priorities.
  • Establish and maintain a system for monitoring and utilising national and international literature and evidence.
  • Contribute to the development of R&E resources for First Nations leaders, staff, and communities.
  • Lead projects that benchmark our research and evaluation against national and international leading practice.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to document the views and perspectives of local First nations staff on First Nations data, research, and evaluation sovereignty and standards.
  • Explore new ways to communicate key research and evaluation principles, approaches, and processes.
Requirements
  • Relevant degree/qualification in research & or evaluation.
  • Experience with report writing, literature reviews, and evidence scans.
  • Strong MS Programs skills.
  • Understanding of First Nations evaluation and data sovereignty.
  • Collaborative and communication skills.
