Job Title: Drilling Operations Coordinator

Description

  • The role of a Drill and Blast Supervisor is to ensure the safe and efficient execution of drilling and blasting operations.
  • This involves coordinating with teams, monitoring performance, and providing technical expertise and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Coordination: Effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets.
  2. Blast Requirements: Communicate drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings.
  3. Work-Crew Responsibilities: Coordinate work-crew responsibilities, ensuring employees are aware of changes and are competent to carry out tasks.
  4. Health Safety and Environment: Ensure all employees understand and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
  5. Technical Advice: Provide technical advice/expertise on Drill & Blast operations and deliver training and guidance to personnel as required.
  6. Blast Notifications: Carry out blast notifications and clearances.
  7. Shift Performance: Monitor shift performance to ensure drill and blast targets are met and take appropriate action to maintain targets.
  8. Reporting: Report significant deviations from drilling and blasting plans to the Project Manager in writing on the shift report.
  9. Regulations: Ensure the transport of blasting materials is conducted in accordance with statutory regulations in a purpose-designed vehicle.
  10. Audit and Inspections: Undertake scheduled audits and inspections of magazines and facilities.
  11. Stakeholder Relationships: Build effective and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • An unrestricted shotfirers ticket.
  • A demonstrated track record of fostering safety in the workplace.
  • Proven experience as a Drill & Blast Supervisor, leading and mentoring teams effectively to drive performance outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in open pit mining within a Nickel, Copper, Gold, Lithium or Iron ore background is highly regarded.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build relationships across the team and departments.
