Canonical seeks a technical leader to spearhead the design and implementation of Ubuntu Core system software on various CPU architectures, including ARM, RISC-V, and X86. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical manager to shape the future of Linux from small systems to desktops.

  • The ideal candidate will lead a distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
  • They will contribute directly toward team goals by demonstrating sound engineering principles.
  • Support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs.
  • Effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate and advance modern agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with company values.
  • Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organization.
About You

Our ideal candidate has experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers.

  • They are knowledgeable and passionate about software development.
  • Have solid experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Experience with embedded software, Golang, C/C++, and Shell.
  • A solid understanding of Linux and a modern GNU/Linux distribution, Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
