Senior Building Surveyor Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our team on a part-time basis, working up to 14-21 hours per week. This temporary role will be based in Picton and is expected to last for up to six months.

About the Position

This position involves working with a small team of building surveyors to conduct inspections and ensure compliance with Council policies and legislative frameworks related to building surveying, certification, and planning matters.

  • Assess and determine or certify the extent to which applications comply with technical building requirements
  • Issue approvals, consents, or building permits as applicable under relevant State and Territory laws
  • Inspect building work to audit compliance with relevant laws
  • Inspect health and safety aspects of existing buildings to verify ongoing compliance with approval or occupation requirements
  • Taking appropriate compliance and enforcement actions as authorised by State or Territory laws to ensure building work complies with regulatory requirements
Key Accountabilities

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health and Building, Building Surveying, or a related field
  • Accreditation with NSW Fair Trading at a registration level of Building Surveying – restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings)
  • A Class C Driver's licence
  • The ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment

  • Reference checks
  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Rights to Work in Australia
