Rigger/Dogman Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Rigger/Dogman to assist with lifting, moving, and positioning heavy equipment and materials. The ideal candidate will have experience in both rigging and dogging operations, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rigging Operations:
    • Set up, inspect, and operate rigging equipment according to specifications.
    • Select appropriate rigging gear, including slings, shackles, and hooks, for the load.
    • Safely control and direct the movement of loads to avoid accidents.
  • Dogging Operations:
    • Assist crane operators with load handling, giving accurate signals and directions.
    • Secure loads and maintain clear communication with crane operators to ensure safe movement.
    • Assess and minimize risks associated with each lift.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Perform daily inspections of equipment and report any faults.
    • Follow all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring adherence to company and industry standards.
    • Complete pre-start and post-operation checks and documentation.
  • Teamwork & Communication:
    • Coordinate effectively with crane operators, supervisors, and other team members.
    • Provide clear, concise, and timely signals to crane operators.
    • Participate in safety briefings and on-site toolbox talks.

Requirements:

  • Certification:
    • Valid Rigger/Dogman license/certification.
    • High-Risk Work License (classifications for rigging and dogging, as required).
    • White Card for general construction.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience as a rigger/dogman in construction or heavy lifting.
    • Familiarity with crane and lifting equipment, including safety standards.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of lifting techniques and rigging principles.
    • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
    • Physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging outdoor conditions.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
    • Commitment to adhering to safety standards and company policies.
    • Additional certifications, such as working at heights.
