Disability Support Officer Job Description

As a dedicated professional in disability support, your primary responsibility is to provide personalized care and assistance to individuals in need.

This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. You will work closely with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and address any concerns or changes in condition promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide assistance with mobility, including transferring clients safely and using mobility aids as required.
  • Support clients with household tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry.
  • Administer medication according to prescribed schedules and document client care activities accurately.
  • Engage in meaningful social interactions and companionship with clients, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in support work or related fields preferred but not required.
  • Completion of relevant training programs or certifications in aged care, disability support, or community services is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check are mandatory.
  • A First Aid and CPR Certificate is also required.
