Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist

As a seasoned professional in maintenance operations, we are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our dynamic team at Thiess. This exciting opportunity will see you play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our heavy earthmoving fleet.
Main Responsibilities:- Conduct routine maintenance tasks to achieve site production targets, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and productivity.
- Perform thorough inspections to maximize equipment utilization, guaranteeing minimal downtime and maximum output.
- Develop and implement accurate Job Planning Sheets (JPS) to streamline job completion and enable seamless workflow.
- Carry out technical inspections and provide detailed estimations for repairs and maintenance activities.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to identify and recommend solutions through designated channels, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adherence to health and safety protocols, fostering a safe working environment for all team members.
- Conduct pre-start checks to ensure equipment is thoroughly inspected and ready for operation.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Trade Certificate in Automotive Electrical Fitting, demonstrating your expertise in automotive electrical systems.
- Prior experience in open-cut mining maintenance, particularly with heavy earthmoving fleets, is essential for this position.
- Specific knowledge of Caterpillar Dump Trucks, Hitachi Excavators, and Ancillary Equipment will be highly valued.
- Experience with air conditioning systems is also required, given the importance of maintaining optimal environmental conditions within our workspaces.
- A HR drivers licence is desirable but not mandatory.
- A proven track record of compliance with health and safety regulations and a commitment to upholding these standards at all times.
