Geotechnical Engineer Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to work on the initial stages of geotechnical projects, focusing on data collection, analysis, and reporting.

The successful candidate will be involved in various tasks including ground stability monitoring, mine infrastructure development, and documentation of rock masses.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop understanding of procedures for ground stability/monitoring/control, and mine infrastructure (underground and open pit).
• Undertake underground and open pit geotechnical field work tasks, including core logging, sample collection, and Q/Q'-mapping.
• Conduct geotechnical data collection and analysis for ground support and stope design criteria.
• Implement quality control and quality assurance measures for performance evaluation.
• Follow up on Rock Noise reports and communicate promptly.
• Conduct Monthly Ground Support Audits, providing methods for addressing key concerns.
• Measure and visually assess the stability of key pillars in the mine.
• Contribute to numerical models for underground workings to support mining activities.
• Train underground crews on ground support and "reading the ground".
• Provide Geotechnical data and information for EOM Reports (underground and open pit).
• Maintain functionality of geotechnical equipment (underground and open pit).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering or Science with a Geotechnical specialisation.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
• Able to learn appropriate mining software packages and tools.
