Spare Parts Specialist Job Overview

The role of Spare Parts Specialist is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of fleets of new vehicles for the Australian Defence Force.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end process of sourcing and managing spare parts, which includes:

  • Identification and validation of spare part numbers through effective use of IT systems, engineering resources, and drawings.
  • Receiving and processing quotations for spare parts and completing inventory transactions in SAP, including purchase and sales orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
  • Liaison with customers, suppliers, and third-party logistics companies on operational issues.
  • Assisting in the stowage and identification of non-codified parts from the Military Repairable Stock List (MRSL).
  • Warehouse inventory and stock control, in conjunction with our 3PL partner.
  • Providing support to the Initial Logistics Support (ILS) team, including arranging painting and packaging of specified parts with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Validating spare part numbers using various resources, including IT systems, engineering resources, and drawings.
  2. Managing inventory transactions in SAP, including purchase and sales orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
  3. Coordinating with customers, suppliers, and third-party logistics companies on operational matters.
  4. Assisting with the storage and identification of non-codified parts from the MRSL.
  5. Overseeing warehouse inventory and stock control, in collaboration with our 3PL partner.
  6. Supporting the ILS team in tasks such as arranging painting and packaging of specified parts with suppliers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with heavy commercial or similar vehicles.
  • Sound knowledge of spare parts supply and inventory management systems.
  • Technical expertise to access and interpret engineering drawings and other resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and the Office suite of products.
  • Australian Citizenship, eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
