At Boral, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Capital Projects Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing engineering services to support the delivery of new capital equipment across our construction materials portfolio.

With a focus on front-end mechanical design and scoping work, you will work closely with the Principal Mechanical Engineer to investigate, design, and deliver effective engineering solutions for our Major Capital Projects portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating and analyzing problems to prepare conceptual solutions for our Major Projects portfolio.
  • Estimating, evaluating, and costing engineering scope, as well as monitoring and reporting on progress.
  • Sizing process equipment, including material handling and logistics concepts for transport, storage, and production capacity.
  • Conducting site investigations to define necessary measures in coordination with plant responsible for process requirements.
  • Preparing Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents and evaluating technical tenders.
  • Project managing studies and investments focused on design aspects for project scope.
  • Assessing and approving drawings from internal and external sources.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated experience within a heavy industrial site.
  • Experience of process equipment, handling systems, and operating conditions, as well as typical design problems of old equipment.
  • Experience in design for industrial investment projects and knowledge of equipment/service costs, material handling for capital project estimation.
  • Experience in development of CFT documents.
  • Experience with the use of design software (AUTOCAD, INVENTOR, Microsoft Project).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and commission industrial mechanical projects, resolve engineering issues, and provide mechanical technical support to others delivering the implementation of the project.
