Compassionate Patient Care Associate

We are seeking a compassionate and hardworking Patient Support Assistant to join our team at Friendly Society Private Hospital.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will work closely with our Registered Nurses and support staff to provide high-quality patient care. As a Patient Support Assistant, you will assist patients with their hygiene-related needs, daily living activities, and mobility requirements under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and are able to demonstrate empathy and understanding when working with patients who may be suffering from cognitive impairment or exhibiting challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing assistance to patients with their daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Assisting patients with mobility needs, such as pushing wheelchairs and helping patients walk.
- Working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure patients receive high-quality care.
- Participating in mandatory training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistant or a similar qualification (highly desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, share information, and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary health team.
- Previous experience working in a similar role within a healthcare or hospital environment advantageous.
- Previous experience in assisting patients with disability and cognitive impairment highly desirable.
- Experience in the management of activities of daily living within an aged care setting highly desirable.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, compliance with Infection Control guidelines and practices advantageous.
It is a mandatory condition of employment that some roles within our hospital require you to be vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against some or all of the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.
Estimated Salary Range: AU$55,000 - AU$65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
