About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers global flexibility and the chance to lead a team of 11 communication professionals. You'll be accountable for developing and executing effective communications strategies across Internal Communications, External Communications, and Media.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing communications approaches that support business objectives and enhance the company's reputation
  • Leading the provision of South32's communications, including internal communications, crisis communications, incident and issues management, media engagements, and website content
  • Determining and securing speaking engagements and media interviews, supported by compelling corporate narratives and speech materials
  • Overseeing global brand development and governance, and defining South32's sponsorship approach
  • Collaborating with site and regionally-based External Affairs teams on the implementation of communications activities aligned with the corporate narrative

About You

We're looking for an experienced senior communications professional with a proven track record in corporate communications and media relations. Ideal candidates will have:

  • 10+ years' experience in a senior communications role
  • A strong ability to develop and implement communications approaches that support business objectives and enhance the company's reputation
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to craft clear, concise messages that align closely with corporate messaging
  • Strong business acumen and partnering, consulting, and influencing skills with the ability to build and navigate relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • The ability to quickly gain trust and build lasting mutually beneficial relationships

South32 offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience. We also provide a range of benefits, including:
