Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising a team of experienced medico-legal solicitors, ensuring excellent service delivery and effective teamwork.
  • Providing expert advice to help minimize the chance of a complaint or claim occurring, leveraging expertise in health law and policy.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including Avant Law and claims teams, to ensure seamless integration of services and support.
  • Developing and delivering training programs, workshops, and other educational activities to enhance the knowledge and skills of Avant's members and staff.
  • Fostering strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders, promoting a culture of collaboration and open communication.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary legal qualifications, preferably in health law or a related field.
  • Eligible to hold a practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia.
  • Demonstrated post-admission experience in health law, preferably with a focus on medico-legal advisory services.
  • Supervisory experience, with a proven track record of leadership and team development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to navigate complex healthcare issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficient in electronic document management systems and other software applications relevant to the role.
