Security Advisor Role Overview

The Australian Government seeks a highly skilled Security Advisor to join their team. As a key member of the security management group, you will play a vital role in providing expert security advice and compliance requirements to various stakeholders.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional to make a real impact in the field of security. You will be accountable for organizing your workflow, making decisions within defined parameters, and seeking guidance when required.

You will work closely with the Director Policing and Security - Navy Management team and ESA to provide security advice on business decisions, as well as program and analyze reports on Navy security compliance.

Your responsibilities will also include assisting in creating and implementing personnel and physical security policies, audits, and doctrine. Additionally, you will answer moderately complex protective security inquiries to assist stakeholders, manage and maintain Positive Vetting level clearances, and research and collect data to draft routine reports and publications.

This is a small blended team consisting of ADF and APS members who examine emerging military platforms and systems across the maritime domain. As a Security Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Navy's future platforms, capabilities, and sensitive technologies are delivered without compromise with a superior level of security assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert security advice and compliance requirements to various stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Director Policing and Security - Navy Management team and ESA
  • Assist in creating and implementing personnel and physical security policies, audits, and doctrine
  • Manage and maintain Positive Vetting level clearances
  • Research and collect data to draft routine reports and publications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., security, law enforcement, criminology)
  • Relevant work experience in security or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
