Role Overview

The Senior Corporate Counsel will play a pivotal role in advising Optus' businesses on complex litigation, regulatory, and competition matters.

As a key member of the Legal team, you will work closely with stakeholders to ensure compliance with laws and regulations while adopting a strategic and commercial approach.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Manage litigation and disputes, administrative proceedings, or planning matters before courts and material customer disputes;
  • Support the Regulatory and Public Affairs team in relation to regulatory matters and deal with enforcement and remediation issues as necessary;
  • Provide general legal advice and support to business units on compliance, privacy, competition, telecommunication, and consumer law issues;
  • Brief and manage external lawyers as required under the direction of the Principal Legal Counsel;
  • Offer legal advice on Optus' obligations to and engagement with law enforcement authorities;

Your Skills

  • Admitted as a solicitor in one or more States in Australia;
  • Litigation experience handling cases and court processes;
  • Experience in a leading law firm in private practice and ideally some experience in-house;
  • Able to provide commercially focused legal support;
  • Superior drafting and negotiation skills;

About the Role

  • $140,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience;
  • 3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit;
