GHD is seeking entry-level drafters/designers in Northern Australia. With multiple roles available in Gladstone, this is a great opportunity to begin your drafting/design career with a diverse organisation dedicated to employee development.
We have various positions available:
- Trainees - Recently completed or nearing completion of Year 12 students seeking a career as a drafter/designer.
- Cadets – Currently studying an Associate Degree / Advanced Diploma in Engineering.
- Graduates – Recently completed or nearing completion of Associate Degree/Advanced Diploma in Engineering.
Under direct supervision, you will learn drafting and design skills across various industry sectors. You will become competent in AutoCAD and gain experience in other design software such as 12d, Civil 3D & Revit.
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation of drawings using AutoCAD and other design/drafting software in engineering fields like architecture & interiors, civil infrastructure, transport, and water.
- Collaborating with senior team members on technical tasks and receiving guidance to support your role.
- Developing knowledge of GHD's Corporate Drafting Manual and relevant systems, tools, and processes.
- Attending TAFE or University and meeting traineeship or cadetship requirements, combining work-based training with formal education.
Requirements:
- QCE (or equivalent) completion with strong academic results in Mathematics and English.
- Experience in AutoCAD is desirable but not essential.
- A strong desire to build a rewarding career as a professional drafter/designer.
- Well-developed communication skills and attention to detail.
- Intermediate computer skills along with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Genuine interest in technical drawing and engineering.

We recognise that our people have lives outside work and may need support balancing responsibilities at home or for other interests. GHD offers flexible working arrangements to ensure employees maintain a suitable balance between work and home.
Average salary: AU$60,000 - AU$80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
