Job Overview

Black Diamond International is a leading provider of remote workforce accommodation and portable buildings.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced leader to join our team in Sydney, Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all yard and fleet duties, ensuring that all work is performed at the highest standards.

The role requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and coach employees, as well as negotiate with contractors. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory role and 5+ years in the building/construction industry.

Duties:

  • Supervise and motivate employees and subcontractors while in the yard to ensure all safe work practices are followed.
  • Continuously improve production/tracking methods.
  • Identify any issues that arise outside the scope of work.
  • Ensure all visitors and sub-contractors are inducted and signed onto relevant SWMS.
  • Provide technical support where necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, and sales at all levels within the operation.
  • Ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Organize and coordinate contractors for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain stock levels of repair and maintenance materials and order as required.
  • Work with operations and sales to achieve client expectations.
  • Monitor yard inventory for accuracy.
  • Ensure buildings are checked in and out using Onyx to link with Fleet Central for chargebacks to clients.
  • Communicate with Operations Manager on fleet movement requirements.
  • Ensure packing lists, material requisitions lists, and delivery dockets are used as required.
  • Check the manifest against the items being dispatched and received.
  • Undertake defect inspections at Manufacturers to ensure they meet Black Diamond's expectations.
  • Advise on PO requirements for repair, service, and renovation.
  • Work with branches to coordinate inter-company transport.
  • Make recommendations to Operations Manager where an increase in labor force may be required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role.
  • 5+ years in the building/construction industry with knowledge of the Building Code of Australia.
  • Experience in the Modular Building Industry would be an asset.
  • Ability to execute several tasks simultaneously with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to supervise contractors while fostering a continuous improvement environment.
  • Understanding of HSEQ compliance and regulations in the building and construction industry.
  • Effective negotiation, planning, organizing, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and provide recommendations on budgets and forecasts.
  • Evidence of ability to manage direct resources and subcontractors including an emphasis on coaching and developing newly formed teams.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual tasks.
  • Fluent in English both oral and written.
  • Able to live and work in Australia.
  • Manual Driver's license.
  • Forklift license preferable.
