Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Manager to join our team. As the second-in-charge of the ANZ Legal team and a member of the ANZ Operating Leadership Team, you will provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic legal advice on a broad range of issues to the ANZ Business Unit (BU).
You will lead lawyer for the ANZ Food and Beverage Operations (Franchise function and Beverages Marketing), as well as Legal lead for Agronomy team. You will support the ANZ BU on a wide variety of strategic projects, including major capital works, property leases, sustainability initiatives, business strategies, M&A opportunities, and complex renewable energy arrangements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Serving as a senior leader for the ANZ BU, a member of the ANZ Operating Leadership Team, and second-in-charge of the legal team.
- Providing legal partner for the Agronomy function, working closely on potato purchase agreements, seed procurement, agronomy strategy, and general agronomy matters.
- Leading the ANZ BU Franchise Legal team.
- Partnering closely with the Franchise team on bottler strategy, drafting, negotiation, and execution of franchise/bottler documentation, such as Exclusive Bottling Appointments, Business Performance Agreements, Concentrate Marketing Agreements, Coop Agreements, and Distribution Agreements.
- Reviewing all marketing collateral and advising on high-profile and high-stakes marketing campaigns.
- Leading the PLI Lipton business, including reviewing all marketing collaterals, negotiating, drafting, and executing franchise/bottler documentation.
- Supporting the ANZ BU on strategic projects, including crisis management, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting obligations, and overseeing external counsel engagement on larger projects.
- Providing education and training to the ANZ BU on compliance matters, including Anti-Bribery, Anti-trust, competition, Privacy, ESG, and consumer law.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A legal qualification (plus higher degree preferred) and current Australian practicing certificate.
- General commercial background, expertise, and experience in competition and consumer law.
- 8-10 years of corporate/commercial law experience, preferably in-house in a multi-national food and beverage company or FMCG company.
- Solid experience in corporate legal environments with a good understanding of regulatory and compliance environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Highly proactive and maturity to engage with senior stakeholders and understand complex business transactions.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
