This position is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and related equipment for assigned projects.
The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of mechanical contracting experience and be able to work from blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions under limited supervision.
The job requires a strong knowledge of all phases of construction, as well as the ability to work nights and overtime on an as-needed basis.
The successful candidate will also have leadership skills to facilitate learning, teamwork, and collaborative relationships.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubings, and fittings using various tools and equipment.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water/air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Review blueprints and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, penetrations, and fixtures in structures using measuring instruments.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand power tools or machines.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand and power tools.
- Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
- Repair plumbing, replace defective washers, mend broken pipes, and open clogged drains.
- Install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems.
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify errors, safety hazards, or other issues.
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in the field and may require up to 15% travel.
The job site may involve varying exposure to weather, harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, noise, dangerous machinery, and other conditions typically associated with a live construction site.
