Lead Civil Maintenance Team Member

The role of a Leading Hand is crucial in ensuring the successful operation of a Civil Maintenance crew. As a key member of our Technical Services team, you will be responsible for providing trade guidance and assistance to team members, operating machinery to perform general maintenance tasks, and directing the team on site as per maintenance plans/requests.

To excel in this role, you should possess good administration skills, including the use of computer technology, and effective communication and liaison skills. You will also have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions without supervision.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing trade guidance and assistance to team members
  • Operating machinery to perform general maintenance tasks
  • Directing the team on site as per maintenance plans/requests
  • Ensuring all works are performed to a high standard and ensuring team members and contractors operate within Work Health and Safety guidelines

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Competencies in additional plant such as concrete grinder, crane (CN), backhoe, and skid steer operation
  • Experience leading a team
  • Sound leadership skills, including problem-solving skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance of concrete, brick paving, storm water drainage systems, and road pavements
  • Current 'HR' class driver's licence
  • Construction Induction Training (White Card)
