About the Role

Townsville Catholic Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Religious Education Leader to join our team. This is a Full Time, 5 Year Fixed Term appointment.

The Religious Education Leader plays a key role in assisting the Principal in evangelising the Mission of the Church through coordinating and managing the Religious Education Curriculum and nurturing the Religious Life of the School.

The purpose of this role is to exercise senior leadership and assist the Principal with the management of the school in accordance with Catholic tradition in consultation with other personnel as appropriate and with due reference to Catholic Education structures, policies, processes and practices.

Key Leadership Qualities and Capabilities

  • Promotes the Catholic vision in the school's goals, policies, programs and structures
  • Baptised Catholic who demonstrates a commitment to the Catholic faith both at school and in parish
  • Displays confidence, curiosity, enthusiasm and optimism
  • Displays emotional intelligence in working with individuals and groups
  • Builds an inclusive, trusting community and cultivates productive working relationships
  • Is an effective coach, able to respond clearly and provide and receive constructive feedback.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
  • Is committed to the Catholic faith, an active member of a Catholic Eucharistic community and is free from any impediment to full communion with the church
  • Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Full accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school
  • A minimum of 8 semester units of postgraduate study in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, Catholic Ethos and/or currently undertaking, with a commitment to completion
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
