We are seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to join our team at MSD Australia.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our logistics team, ensuring seamless and efficient dispatch of goods to customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Safety First

Ensuring a strong safety culture within the team is embedded in day-to-day work.

Team Supervision

Supervising and coordinating the work of team members within and beyond their department.

Supply Chain Support

Supporting the Supply Chain Manager with various duties and requirements.

Order Monitoring

Daily monitoring of order movements to ensure efficient and effective dispatch.

Export Shipments

Efficient dispatch of export shipments and management of associated paperwork.

Freight Invoicing

Timely approvals of freight invoices.

Customer Support

Assisting all subsequent departments with customer enquiries, status, and freight quotes & schedules.

Freight Consumables

Ordering of freight consumables.

System Controls

Maintaining System controls to aid the team, including backordering of Stock and Undespatching etc.

Team Management

Assigning and monitoring work/output of team members in line with daily KPI targets and Customer demands.

Logistics Gaps

Identifying logistics procedural gaps and assisting in the development and implementation to mitigate business risks.

Staff Performance

Reviewing staff performance, providing regular feedback for growth and development, and using HR platforms for formal performance reviews.

Talent Development

Identifying talent potential, skill shortages, and training pathways for direct reports to maintain stable production operations.

Budget Support

Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with operational and capital expense budget processes where required.

Recruitment

Assisting with recruitment activities to maintain necessary team headcount.

Rostering

Managing team roster and leave requests, verifying, and approving daily timesheets for permanent and contingent workers.

Remuneration Reviews

Performing remuneration reviews, calibrations, and other end-of-year processes for team members using HR platforms and processes.

KPI Understanding

Understanding and promoting production Key Performance Indicators (KPI) such as Dispatch levels, yield, reduction of waste, and other primary goals within the production team.

Quality and Safety

Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Quality and Environmental Health & Safety procedures and policies, being proactive in site safety by promptly informing through EH&S Officers and representatives of any hazards, risks, or incidents.

Operator Rostering

Planning operator station rosters and rotations according to operator training level to follow production schedule provided.

Production Reports

Completing all production reports and other documentation ensuring good communication and record-keeping practices.

Technical Guidance

Able to apply knowledge and skills to other departments, providing technical guidance, and training.

Problem Solving

Actively participating in identifying and solving complex operational problems.

Inspection Reports

Developing and maintaining inspection reports.

Problem Analysis

Supporting the production on problem-solving analysis.

Quality Compliance

Ensuring goods and products comply with company standards.

Audit

Auditing periodically the process according to Production Basics.

Test Equipment Calibration

If correspond, ensuring test equipment is calibrated and working correctly.

Quality Anomalies

Reporting quality anomalies and identifying containment actions to support Tier meetings.

Improvement Opportunities

Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality, processes, and systems.

Dispatch System

Ensuring that the dispatch system is compliant with policy guidelines and properly updated.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous Supervisory Experience

Previous supervisory or team leader experience is essential.

Continuous Improvement

Expertise in Continuous Improvement techniques and implementation is required.

Organisational and Logistics Skills

Advanced organisational and logistics skills are required.

Computer Skills

High-level Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel skills are required.

SAP Knowledge

SAP system knowledge is an advantage.

Multiskilled Abilities

Multiskilled abilities are required.

Customer Focus

You must have a pragmatic, organised, and methodical approach with a customer focus.

Communication Skills

Advanced verbal and written communication skills are required.

You must demonstrate the ability to problem solve.
