Key Roles and Responsibilities for a Secondary Science Teacher

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering the curriculum to students, utilising diverse and effective teaching strategies. This will involve addressing the diverse needs of learners through collaboration with support staff.

  • Curriculum Design and Delivery
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage students and ensure they meet the required learning outcomes.
  • Supporting Learners
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement inclusive curricula that cater to the needs of all students.
  • Utilise technology to enhance the learning experience and provide opportunities for students to develop their skills in this area.
  • Lesson Planning and Organisation
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that are relevant, engaging and aligned with the state and national curriculum requirements.
  • Ensure the curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the changing needs of students and society.
  • Assessment and Feedback
  • Develop and implement assessment strategies that provide meaningful feedback to students on their progress and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements and any concerns.
  • Maintaining Accurate Records
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and progress are maintained.
  • Professional Development
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and improve teaching skills.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of the role, particularly when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
