Tax Consultant

BDO's Expat & Employment Tax team delivers specialist expatriate and Australian employment tax consulting and compliance services to a wide range of clients and industries. Our expertise includes fringe benefits tax (FBT), superannuation guarantee, Pay-As-You-Go Withholding, payroll tax, and WorkCover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivery of high-quality work demonstrating technical competence and expertise across all employment tax matters.
- Preparation of complex advice and reviewing advice and compliance items.
- Preparation and/or review of tax returns, including FBT returns, payroll tax returns, and income tax returns for expatriate employees.
- Managing due diligence reviews, including preparation of reports.
- Providing feedback and coaching to staff.
- Supporting the delivery of team and client technical training.
- Developing new opportunities through professional associations and networking.
- Contributing to tenders and winning new work.
- Managing and fostering relationships with clients.
- Effective financial management of workflow and teams, billing, budgets, and productivity.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:
- CA/CPA (or overseas equivalent) or legal qualifications.
- CTA, Master of Taxation (or overseas equivalent).
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in professional services.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite: Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
- Strong commitment to quality service and client relationships.
- Excellent understanding of taxation and legal issues and the commercial environment.
- Excellent client relationship focus both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve a positive outcome.
- Able to display drive and initiative through proactive behaviour.
