As a Waste Collection Operative, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our community's cleanliness and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and empty mobile garbage, recycling, and green waste bins in a timely and correct manner.
  • Carefully handle mobile bins and report any damages to the relevant authorities.
  • Promote Council services to the public with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Rotate between different waste collection services as needed, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Follow instructions from Team Leaders and Coordinator Waste Operations without exception.
  • Participate in waste minimisation initiatives and contribute to a cleaner environment.
  • Respond promptly to radio calls and support emergency situations, including overtime assignments.
  • Maintain and operate machinery for emptying mobile garbage bins efficiently.

Requirements

  • Hold a current Heavy Rigid Licence.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Be proficient in safely operating side loader waste collection vehicles.
  • Have experience with rear loader vehicle operation and emptying mobile bins.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to read and understand street directories and work rosters effectively.
  • Hold Basic First Aid skills.
  • Be physically capable of manual handling, including lifting and manoeuvring bins.
