About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity to join our team as a Mine Development Engineer at Olympic Dam, one of Australia's largest mines. As a member of our Mine Development Engineering team, you will support the integrity, safety, and performance of underground mine development.
You will work closely with the operations teams, project teams, and other departments to identify and implement improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence and support business priorities for continuous improvement.
This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with data. You will also have experience with Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Webex, and similar tools.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and deliver improvement opportunities using BHP's Operating System (BOS) practices.
- Assess and manage execution, change, and project risk.
- Liaise with operational Superintendents, Coordinators, and Supervisors to implement improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain close working relationships and provide expertise when required.
- Identify safe operational practices, including field leadership activities.
- Share knowledge, contacts, experience, and expertise.
- Support BOS Managing Operational Performance and Managing Improvement Projects processes.
- Weekly reporting for Mine Development and Significant Event and Reportable Injury reporting for the Mine.
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation to support reporting requirements and improvement initiatives.
- Prepare inputs to form the development budget and provide forecast updates and budget analysis.
- Be an interface between operations and other functions, contractors, suppliers, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related tertiary qualification.
- Underground mining knowledge and experience are preferred but not essential.
- You must be able to work independently and have experience meeting individual and team KPIs.
- Strong communication skills that allow effective engagement with all levels of management.
- Financial experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Thorough understanding of the mine development cycle is strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing and implementing improvement initiatives is highly regarded.
- Attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to work with data.
- Experience with Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Webex, and similar tools is preferred.
