Operational Metallurgist Opportunity

Our organisation is seeking an experienced Operational Metallurgist to join our optimisation team. The ideal candidate will have worked at a senior level, possessing process analytics and optimisation skills.

  • Contribute to the development of fit-for-purpose automation, control, and digital solutions that create value for clients.
  • Provide a range of services to clients, including met accounting, discovery audits, control strategy changes, commissioning and tuning, and process information reviews.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with customers as a client advocate to understand operational problems and opportunities.
  • Undertaking potential assessments to calculate expected return on investment (ROI).
  • Developing integrated solutions that span all layers of the automation pyramid to holistically solve client problems.
  • Collaborating with Designers, Instrumentation & Control System Engineers, and Production System Specialists to design, specify, deploy, and sustain advanced process control solutions.
  • Providing remote and onsite troubleshooting and technical support.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Metallurgy, Process, or Chemical Engineering with exposure to Process Control.
  • 7+ years of experience in a metallurgical environment with process control, metallurgical accounting, and production reporting.
  • International and consulting experience across various operations and commodities preferred.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and business drivers across the operational value chain.
  • Experience in designing robust process control strategies.
  • Solid understanding of Windows OS, process dynamics, mathematics, simulation, and technical computing.
  • Advanced knowledge of production systems, including modelling and simulation.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with strong client-facing rapport.
