We are currently seeking talented individuals to join our Graduate Development Program, which offers an exceptional pathway to launch your career in computer science, cyber security, law enforcement, intelligence, information security, public policy, politics, policy and governance, sociology, psychology, criminology, international affairs, surveillance, government investigations, social science, business administration, arts, and forensic identification.

This 10-month program is designed to align with your interests and skills, providing hands-on experience across diverse areas of the Department. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of our operations, develop your professional expertise, and build valuable connections within the organisation.

To succeed in our Graduate Program, you'll need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning. Eligibility Requirements:

You are welcome to apply for our Graduate Development Program if you:

  • Are an Australian citizen or will be by March 18, 2026
  • Have completed at least an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (a Bachelor Degree) equivalent, or higher equivalent by December 31, 2026
  • Can obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance or an onboarding check as applicable
  • Obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance at the Negative Vetting 1 level
Selection Process:
  1. Online Application: Create an account on our recruitment website to submit your application.
  2. First Round of Assessments and Interview: Online assessments evaluating cognitive abilities and skills essential for our graduate roles.
  3. Assessment Centre: Virtual assessment centre to evaluate applicants' suitability for the program.
  4. Referee Reports: Referee reports provide information about your employment history, qualifications, experience, and role suitability.
  5. Merit Pool: Suitable candidates are placed in a merit pool, not all suitable candidates receive an offer.
  6. Verbal Employment Offer: Conditional verbal employment offer dependent on obtaining required security clearances.
  7. Clearances: Comprehensive security clearance processing before commencing with the Department.
