About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Management Specialist to join our team at the Queensland Government. As a key member of our Natural Resource Assessment team, you will play a critical role in managing Queensland's natural environment and providing high-quality advice and support to landholders and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of applications and evaluate the environmental impact of various projects and activities.
  2. Policy Development: Contribute to the development of legislation, policy, and guidelines related to natural resource management.
  3. Technical Advice: Provide expert technical advice on complex assessments and prepare submissions and briefs for senior officers.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with local and state teams to achieve core business goals and foster team development.
Requirements
  1. Strong Leadership and Communication Skills: Demonstrate personal leadership and communication skills to contribute to local and state teams.
  2. Technical Expertise: Apply technical assessment skills to gather, interpret, and summarise information from various sources.
  3. Experience and Qualifications: Possess experience or qualification in Natural Resource Management, Land/Regional/Urban Planning, Environmental or Earth Sciences, or Agriculture.
  4. GIS and Legislation Knowledge: Have experience with GIS systems, the Vegetation Management Act 1999, Planning Act 2016, and other related natural resource management legislation.
  5. Driver's License and Travel: Possess a current C class (manual) driver's license and be able to travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
