Job Summary
Experis is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership to the project delivery team and ensuring the successful implementation of data delivery frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the project delivery team through design reviews, implementation best practices, and technical workshops.
- Review and refine the data delivery framework to enhance integration of new sources, performance of existing data delivery, and rapid development of new subject areas.
- Own the technical implementation of new data from analysis to delivery, including designing and delivering data dictionaries, defining release steps, and defining best practices for data modeling and review steps.
- Facilitate continuous improvement measures in delivery principles, coding standards, documentation, and provide training sessions to the team.
- Provide knowledge transfer sessions and peer review on best practices for development, data modeling, release process, etc.
- Prioritize work items and add them to a work queue.
- Understand, analyze, and size user requirements.
- Develop and maintain SQL analytical and ETL code.
- Develop and maintain system documentation.
- Collaborate with data consumers, database development, testers, and IT support teams.
Key Deliverables
- Work items placed into a product backlog.
- MS SQL / Teradata / Snowflake / Redshift / Databricks - Demonstrated competency in developing, auditing, and reviewing code in 2 out of the 5 Data Warehouses listed.
- High level of competency in programming, including knowledge of supplementary programming languages such as Python, SAS, R, or Java.
- Strong expertise with SQL, including experience with reverse-engineering end-user SQL code.
- Ability to read and interpret data models and specifications.
- Ability to understand DevOps process and use DevOps tools in accordance with the process.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of version controls and its appropriate uses.
- Minimum of 4 years in a similar role.
- Exposure to AWS Cloud, AWS S3, AWS Glue, or similar tools within the cloud environment.
- Competency with required systems, software, and programs, including SAS and Excel.
- Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, statistical, computer sciences discipline, or more than three years relevant work experience.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
