Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Birth Care Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at John Flynn Private Hospital. As a key member of the Obstetrics Ward and Special Care Nursery, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to mothers and families across all areas of midwifery.

Your primary responsibility will be to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care, ensuring the well-being and safety of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert midwifery care to patients in the birth suite, special care nursery, and postnatal wards.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and screenings to identify potential risks and concerns.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, their families, and the wider community.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and emerging trends in midwifery.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
  • Recent experience working in birth suites, special care nurseries, and postnatal wards.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and policies related to midwifery practice in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • A keen interest in postnatal education.
