Cox Purtell is a leading recruitment firm that partners with national membership associations across Australia.

Our client, a prominent membership association, is seeking an experienced General Manager of Membership & Engagement to drive strategic initiatives and contribute to the growth of their member base.

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time opportunity offering a salary of up to $190,000 + Super (dependent on experience) and a hybrid working arrangement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to acquire, grow and retain members, while enhancing the member experience and driving commercial opportunities for organisational growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • To oversee the exploration and development of new business opportunities, partnerships and alliances, contributing to the growth and retention of members.
  • To build and lead high-performing teams to achieve growth objectives and increase engagement.
  • To lead the conceptualisation and execution of a diverse range of high-quality programming and events aimed at providing value-add experiences for members.
  • To develop and oversee the execution of a strategic growth and retention plan to achieve targets, creating value propositions for membership and ensuring member satisfaction.
  • To oversee the establishment of strategic alliances with associations and other partners.
  • To identify and deliver products and services to boost membership engagement.
  • To collect, analyse and report on membership statistics, ensuring a data-driven approach to strategy.
  • To inspire and lead high-performing State Managers to deliver against agreed targets.
  • To establish key performance indicators to measure the success of events.
  • To oversee strategic partnerships with vendors, sponsors and industry stakeholders to enhance event offerings.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in member-based organisations/associations, ideally within an Association or Not-for-Profit organisation.

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a management role is desired, along with a tertiary qualification in Business Administration or a related field.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, guiding and developing team members, as well as excellent collaboration and communication skills with stakeholders.
