Description:

A Cytology Specialist plays a vital role in the diagnosis of cancer and other diseases by analyzing cell samples and providing accurate results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cytological testing according to established protocols.
  • Operate various laboratory equipment such as microscopes, staining devices, and centrifuges.
  • Prepare and stain slides for examination under a microscope.
  • Conduct cell smears and other cytology tests.
  • Document results accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with pathologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Cytotechnologist with the relevant governing body.
  • Evidence of competency in cytology as per guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control Programs and equipment maintenance.
  • Excellent technical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • General good health and a level of functional ability appropriate to the demands of the position.
