Key Responsibilities- Geotechnical Governance and Support: Provide geotechnical and hydrogeological governance and specialist technical support to operational and project teams to ensure effective geotechnical controls are in place.
- Standard Development and Implementation: Develop group geotechnical standards and implement necessary governance frameworks to improve the effective application of these standards.
- Innovative Solutions and Best Practices: Identify and implement innovative geotechnical and hydrogeological solutions and ensure best practice ground control management standards are in place and regularly updated in conjunction with operational teams.
- Risk Management: Ensure that site risk registers incorporate up-to-date controls required for the successful management of geotechnical and hydrogeological risks.
- Ground Control Planning: Contribute to the preparation of fit-for-purpose ground control, ground and surface water, rehabilitation, and closure management plans and supporting designs.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and guidance in preparing detailed work scopes for consultants and contractors, and managing resulting contracts where required for study, project, or operational purposes.
- Site Visits and Coaching: Conduct routine site visits to coach and provide technical expertise in addressing geotechnical challenges and guide forward work plans to better understand geotechnical risks.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 15+ years in Open Pit and Underground Mining operations.
- Skills: Extensive practical experience in a similar role, competent in geotechnical software packages, experience across commodities and mining methods, primarily in hard rock environments, ability to develop and peer review geotechnical stability models (2D & 3D) for and from Operations or Consultants/SMEs.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a technical environment, proven skills in creating strong working relationships with peers and ability to influence internal and external groups, mentor and share knowledge.
