About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at Calvary Care. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality food services to our residents. Your main duties will include preparing daily meals and beverages that meet individual needs, monitoring and suggesting actions to continuously improve food service, and assuming responsibility for the effective running of the kitchen in the absence of the Chef Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals and beverages that meet individual needs of each resident, including special dietary requirements, allergies, and culturally specific requirements.
  • Under the direction of the Chef Manager, monitor and suggest actions to continuously improve food service.
  • Assume responsibility for the effective running of the kitchen in the absence of the Cook/Chef Manager, including supervising the team to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Document resident's requirements and any changes that may occur for each resident on shift as required.
  • Report food safety hazards/non-compliances to the Home Manager/Chef Manager or Chef.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in commercial cookery, experience in aged care or healthcare settings, and a completion of (HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain. You will also need to have knowledge of IDDSI and nutritional guidelines, the ability to cook meals in line with planned menus, and a working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control.
