We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hydrologist, Hydrogeologist, or Flood Modelling Specialist to join our team at PDP Pattle Delamore Partners. As a key member of our environmental science and engineering consultancy, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including hydrological investigations, flood modelling, and groundwater studies.
Key Responsibilities- Create, build, and maintain innovative Python scripts and modules to support our projects.
- Develop and integrate Python tools into GIS software to enhance our data analysis capabilities.
- Assist with developing telemetry software and hardware to support our fieldwork activities.
- Conduct hydrological investigations, including baseline hydrology studies, hydrological assessments for hydro-electric, irrigation, and public water supplies.
- Undertake data analysis and assessments related to surface water, groundwater, and water quality focussed work.
- Conduct fieldwork, including surface water and groundwater monitoring, and assist with hydraulic/flood modelling and/or groundwater studies for river systems and catchments.
- Write technical reports and contribute to proposals to support our business development activities.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from a well-recognised university in Environmental Science, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Computer Science/Software Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geography, or similar.
- Graduate or up to 5 years of post-graduate experience, ideally in one or more of hydrology, flood modelling, or groundwater.
- Excellent computer skills in Python, R, GIS systems, and the Microsoft suite. Proficiency in Tuflow, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS, and/or groundwater modelling software is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of hydrological, groundwater, and/or water resource principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organisational skills.
