Director, Environmental Conservation and Head of Australia Operations

The Pew Charitable Trusts is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to serve as the Director, Environmental Conservation and Head of Australia Operations. This is a critical leadership role that will oversee the delivery of the organization's environmental conservation objectives in Australia, as well as manage a team of staff and contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Programmatic Oversight: Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the Protecting Australia's Nature program, working closely with campaign managers to design and implement successful campaigns and initiatives that achieve measurable goals and milestones.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a diverse team of project directors and other staff across Australia, fostering a healthy and dynamic team culture that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible.
- Public Profile: Cultivate and sustain a significant public profile for Pew and the Protecting Australia's Nature project in Australia, leveraging media and communication channels to promote the organization's work and goals.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including conservation organizations, industry leaders, Indigenous groups, policymakers, and government officials, to advance the organization's environmental conservation objectives.
- Financial Management: Oversee the budget and finances for the program, ensuring effective fiscal management and ensuring that resources are allocated to achieve program objectives.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of applicable experience, including staff, project, and/or consultant management experience, and experience in state and national level conservation advocacy or related field.
- Expertise: Expertise in biodiversity conservation and management, environmental advocacy, and terrestrial, freshwater, and marine protection in Australia.
- Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed organization.
Travel is required periodically throughout Australia and to The Pew Charitable Trusts headquarters in the United States of America. The salary range for this position is $182,300 AUD - $203,700 AUD, which represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew's commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay.
