Laboratory Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for the receipting and processing of specimens, including the operation and maintenance of analysers.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and handle specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including analysers
- Identify and prioritise urgent specimens
- File and store specimens and data entry
- Assist scientists in the laboratory as required
- Stay up to date with processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
- Respond to result, sample requirements and general queries
- Identify and resolve problems at the pre-analytic stage
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
- Specimen processing and data entry experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team
- Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable
