Scullery Attendant Job Description

The primary role of the Scullery Attendant involves maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in a commercial kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Clean and maintain dishwashing machines, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the relevant authorities.
  • Operate dishwashing machine as per instruction manual, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Properly dispose of waste, garbage, and recycling materials, adhering to current health and hygiene regulations.
  • Action cleaning duties within the kitchen, food preparation areas, and scullery, promoting a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure all kitchens are kept clean and tidy, adhering to current Health & Hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure correct handling of chemicals and equipment as per manufacturers instructions, minimising risk of accidents or injuries.
  • Prepare mise-en-place as required, supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Promote a safe workplace by recognising hazards and promoting general WHS practices, contributing to a positive work culture.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment, with a proven track record of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Understanding of food safety requirements, with knowledge of current regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work various rostered shifts, including early mornings and weekends, demonstrating adaptability and willingness to accommodate changing demands.
