We are seeking an experienced Water Operations Specialist to join our team in the Eastern region. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the operational efficiency of our potable water infrastructure, including the Newman Water Treatment Plant and other RO-based systems serving FIFO villages and mine operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for confirming water operating plans are available, understood, and followed by operations staff; reviewing operational performance data, such as water quality and quantity, plant performance, etc.; and reporting on water quality and quantity events and hazards.

This position also involves initiating, managing, and completing improvement projects with site-based teams to optimize asset performance and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of ADWG, ANCOLD, and other relevant regulations governing water utilities in Australia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Confirming water operating plans are available, understood, and followed by operations staff
  • Reviewing operational performance data, such as water quality and quantity, plant performance, etc.
  • Reporting on water quality and quantity events and hazards
  • Initiating, managing, and completing improvement projects with site-based teams
  • Liaising with internal engineering teams on improvement projects and other queries
  • Liaising with external regulators and stakeholders on regulatory compliance and asset performance
  • Working with trade maintenance teams to coach and manage improvement projects
  • Managing the Weekly Operations meeting and MS Teams page

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent science degree, along with significant experience in the water industry. A strong focus on safety, particularly chemical safety, is essential. Experience with document writing, risk assessment, and management is also highly valued.
