As part of our Climate Transition Action Plan, we are in the process of closing our thermal power generation assets and replacing them with renewable energy and battery storage assets.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Project Developer to contribute to the development and execution of our renewable generation and battery storage growth strategy. The successful candidate will support Development Project Managers in taking the pipeline of projects in our greenfield project portfolio through to the start of construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage AGL's portfolio of wind, battery, and pumped hydro projects in the National Electricity Market (NEM)
  • Assist with contract negotiations for construction and transmission connection
  • Identify, report, and manage key risks associated with the projects
  • Assist in developing and executing project implementation plans to successfully deliver project outcomes within approved budgets and schedules
  • Assist the negotiation of commercial and contractual relationships with contractors to ensure that they adequately manage AGL's project risk
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to obtain all permits and licenses needed for the construction and operation of power projects
  • Assist in community consultation activities for development projects, including preparing presentations for community consultative committee meetings and meeting with key community stakeholders
  • Ensure all Health, Safety, and Environment systems and goals are introduced and adhered to

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as business, finance, commerce, or engineering
  • Strong technical and commercial skills
  • Experience in the energy industry, preferably in renewable energy and/or project development
  • Understanding and appreciation of renewable energy and/or project development requirements
  • Project, regulatory, and risk management skills
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
